Luke and Kathryn
“It’s all a bit surreal owning somewhere that we can call home. It’s fun making it our own.”
Luke and Kathryn met in the Air Cadets and used Help to Buy to purchase their new home, they are now looking forward to being able to get a dog.
Luke said: “We both followed our dream to join the Royal Air Force, but our jobs haven’t always allowed us to live together. After years of wanting to own our own home we started looking in Leicester, so we could finally spend time living together. The first I heard of the government scheme was I was house hunting and my building society mentioned it. It was a really nice surprise as it meant we could own somewhere much more spacious than we expected and suited to our needs.
“Our friends and family have given us most of the furniture, and we are excited about getting a labrador as it can be some what difficult to own pets whilst serving in the military.
“When we got the keys and finally moved in our mortgage lenders had delivered us a house warming pack full of practical stuff, like loo roll and tea bags, stuff you don’t think of buying! The builders gave us goodies including, biscuits, mugs and a bottle of champagne. A really nice touch! Nothing beats the feeling of security and stability of owning a place we can really call home.”
