Emily Freeman snapped up a family home using Help to Buy

Lady standing in kitchen with hands on islandProperty solicitor Emily had met her partner Ema, and her teenage daughter Beth, and they wanted a new home with more space – particularly because they had three cats to accommodate as well!

Keen to stay in Stafford and close to their workplace, it didn’t take them long to narrow down their choice to the £264,995 three-bed corner plot offered by Bellway.

Emily said: “We looked at four houses, but we liked the position of this plot which is quite big, but also private, with a garden that is not overlooked and a totally separate garage. There are also plenty of places close by where the cats can roam!”

She was familiar with Help to Buy because clients at her legal firm had used the scheme, and she asked her independent mortgage broker to look into it and find out exactly how much she could borrow – £59,000 – and therefore how much she could spend on a new home.

Emily said: “It was really easy. I filled in the online questionnaire and as long as you know your financial position, it is very clear and tells you quickly how much your loan will be. You don’t have to wait long to hear if your application has been successful.”

Bellway’s site manager met the couple on moving-in day and gave them gifts of chocolates and champagne.

Emily said: “The house is spacious and we get the sun in the sitting room all day. It gives us more space, more storage and more privacy, and we are very happy here.

“Anyone who can take advantage of Help to Buy should definitely go for it.”
