Can I Afford It: Right to Buy calculator

This calculator can be used as a rough guide to help you work out the discount you may be eligible for under the current Right to Buy scheme. You will need to complete all the boxes including adding the approximate value of your home. There are a number of property websites which can help you work out how much your home could be worth and you might find the Land Registry website useful. You can also talk to local estate agents or a Right to Buy adviser on 0300 123 0913.

Please note that as the market value you enter will only be an estimate, the level of discount you could get may go up or down. You will only know exactly how much your home is worth once it has been valued by your landlord after you apply. We would advise that you don’t make any formal financial or legal arrangements before you’ve had your landlord’s valuation.

If you enter an incorrect estimated property value, please use the reset button to start again.

Please include the years you have been a council/ housing association tenant, not just your years in the current property. The longer you have been a tenant, the more discount you can get on the value of your home. Find out more information on discount levels.
